somehow when i read steve's rss/etc... pov i get a sense that he's slightly off the mark and reading way to much in to the platform - it's not about competition right now, it's about alternatives based on desired consumption & activity...
there is a time and place for all formats and distribution methods to exist - and traditional media can still participate - they will just be there later, as is the nature of wider industry adoption...
for example look at most of steve's column - he's parroting concepts and key points that others have already discussed on audioblogs or ping-pong published in threaded blogs/comments...
which is not a bad thing, if that gets the platform and it's potentials more visibility - so be it...
sometimes that's the value of big media - cnet would qualify - sort of ;)
