i saw that dave pointed to a use case for podcasting - which i agree looks like a brutal daily commute for that poor soul - but i'm sure he's very glad to be employed ;)
i've now entered the season that adds a new personal use case to my original (my daily round trip train commute from ct - nyc) - stratton opened (couple diamond trails going at the top - snow was nice though day was rained out by the time i left)...
depending on traffic and weather, it's normally about 3 1/2 hrs each way - and we try go as often as possible...
so before leaving, i created a playlist specifically for the drive-time, saved up a number of my favorite podcasts as well as some radiotime shows...
the nice thing about a specific playlist/use case approach is you can correlate the playlist to your expected total time in the car - that way you aren't spinning the wheel on the ipod looking for what to listen to next while driving - just start it up and your good to go...
the only thing i'm going to add is some way to record my own comments and notes - probably via a sony minidisc recorder - so i don't forget key take aways as i'm listening...
when you're listening to a number of podcasts in a row - it'd be nice to quickly record a comment (w/ attribution) to either be posted as audio or simply to retain and reply via a post/comment/trackback - and in the car - keeping everything simple & audio just makes the most sense...
on this round trip, for example, i listened to a couple egc's, dsc's, it conversations, dawn and drew and some of the ipodeo "old time radio" podcasts...
on one of the egc's - dave mentioned that he was considering a "thumbs down" approach to the "no vendor-speak" scenario for the "southern voices" conference he's organizing - which of course is brilliant dave ;)
