SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE BUSINESS PODCAST: SF Radio Station Going All Podcast, All The Time.
"Staff Writer Benny Evangelista talks about Infinity's surprise experiment and how it could change the traditional radio landscape."
hey - very nice from benny and marcus (even though this is my personal blog - i should do a full disclosure - they are co-workers of mine, from a same corporate family point-of-view)...
but i am judging their effort "personally" and as purely as possible - this is a podcast done by a newspaper (who's industry is in a state of transition), reacting to a story about an industry (radio) that is also in a state of transition (more like suffering from disruptive innovation really)...
these two freely discuss the experiment that their podcast is, and they've put out a few already that are attempting to explore the landscape of what's possible - they are short and very much diy, which of course is what i really like about it...
as for kyou, i've posted my take as comments on a few very good blog/podcast postings that were already reacting to this "slight of hand" by infinity...
you can find many thoughtful points-of-view & comments from john, dave and rob plus their subscribers on this topic - my favorites from each are:
benny saying "if you're sucking anyway"
john saying "In reality, it’s a way form them to get free content from budding radio personalities while capitalizing on the latest media buzzword."
dave saying "If you let other people make money off you and give your stuff to them for nothing, you just undercut yourself and allow them to devalue your labor."
finally, rob coining the word "FODCASTING" listen to his podcast for the definition - in the rant format that he does so well ;)
update: syndicator posted on it too...
lame update: a stream of an npr interview on talk of the nation (neal conan - pls get a clue, what the hell is an "ipod-cast?) of Joel Hollander (chairman and CEO of Infinity Broadcasting) - come on npr, start at least podcasting segments that are about podcasting :-p
hey, one pearl joel mentioned is that infinity is "not going to charge podcasters to put their shows on the air" - wtf was that?
this is actually a must listen to - carries a lameness factor of 5 out of 5 :)
