missing yet another woodstock :(
Wired News: Curry in Podcast Convention Clash
"This is going to be the Woodstock of podcasting."
in the summer of 1969, i was 10yrs old and lived at west point, ny - the us military academy where my dad, a career army officer was teaching history to cadets...
the original woodstock happened within an hour drive of my home, and we'd heard about it even though life on the point was somewhat sheltered - it would have been fun as a 10yr old to head up there and get muddy, but i missed it ;)
well the podcasting expo is happening out west this friday and saturday, and as the wired article states it most certainly is looking like a woodstock-like event for all sorts of podcast producers and listeners - and while i'm scheduled to speak on a panel discussing citizen media, plus looking forward to meeting up w/ a whole lots of podcast friends - i will unfortunately be missing this "woodstock" too...
you see my life got in the way of my passion, so no playing in the mud, no listening to the tunes, no meeting up w/ my online buds - i am very bummed :(
i will especially miss being on the panel w/ jd and john discussing citizen media's potential effect on traditional media - as a traditional media employed emerging media technologist i do have some opinions on the subject, which i was looking forward to sharing - but mostly i was looking forward to listening to jd, he is the master of this - my copy of darknet is very dog-eared as such...
i will also miss dave slusher's session - i sure do hope some nice videoblogger catches that (eric?)...
as for the tim and adam feud - totally silly, i signed up w/ tim to do the expo last may, he's worked really hard to make the expo a success, and been a stand-up guy all along - so my opinion of tim and the expo in general is a very positive one...
as for adam, i've been reading his blog for years and while i appreciate the paradigm he helped shift via podcasting, i unsubscribed to both his blog and his podcast awhile ago, i own a sirius radio but i don't listen to the podshow on it, i do like some podshow produced or backed shows - but i liked them before too and i don't really see what benefit they get out of their association - as for arrogance, looks to me like ron bloom has enough of that to go around and could supersaturate even a convention center, so seems like a good thing that they're not involved in the expo...
have fun out there podville - wish i was going to be there w/ you all as plan but such is life :)

Mike,
Sorry you can't make it out. I was looking forward to sitting in on your session. I think there will be plenty of post show audio, video and pics to go around. Very intelligent sentiments on the PodShow/Expo controversy.

Hi Mike,
I know about you from EGC blog. First time dropping by. Re: Your comments on the Adam/Podshow/Ron thing-is there an echo in here?:)
Know how you feel about not being there. I'm a fellow '59er by the way.
